Dr. Jaramillo speaks and DBSA Christmas Party

Dr. Jaramillo spoke to A Better Tomorrow this evening and shared information about medications, treatments and his new position in the field of consulting psychiatry. A large group gathered for the event including several first time attendees. We are thankful for each person's attendance and we thanked Dr. Jaramillo for his years of speaking to us with a display award from the group.

For 2009 DBSA will hold its annual Christmas Party at the home of Ron and Wendy. The party will be on Friday, December 18, at 6:30 PM. Members are encouraged to come out and enjoy this time of celebrating the holidays together. More information (including directions) were given out tonight and will be handed out again at the next two meetings, December 10 and 17. Hope everyone can make it out to enjoy these times of sharing.

New officer makes big contributions to DBSA-Jackson

Special thanks to Thomas Davis who has been working tirelessly on the chapter level to reach out for new opportunities to spread the word about DBSA-Jackson. In addition to new printed materials and new displays, Thomas is in the process of setting up a 24-hour, 7 day a week messaging service for our chapter so that when people call for assistance they can leave messages that will then be responded to by one of our officers. We also have a new official chapter e-mail DBSAJacksonTN@gmail.com. This e-mail will be used for the sending out of communications from the officers and will give us an official chapter e-mail to pass on when office holders change.
Thanks Thomas for all your hard work!

Minds on the Edge to air on PBS Channel 10 of Memphis

The new public television program Minds on the Edge will be shown throughout the Mid-South on PBS Channel 10 out of Memphis this Tuesday evening at 9:00 PM according to local media guides. This presentation is an excellent introduction to the problems of those living with severe mental illness and would be a great video for showing to friends and family. Spread the word about this great program that premiered in West Tennessee a few weeks ago at Union University.
